Study Abroad

Though the program was only 6-weeks, it definitely felt like an entire lifetime of growth and experience. Learning so much about the German culture while I was there, I was able to reflect on facets of my own self and notice just how much growing up in a different environment can impact your mindset and identity. More than anything, the experience gave me a new sense of independence and adaptability, showing me that I could step into an unfamiliar place, find my footing, and come out with a deeper understanding of both another culture and myself.

UF in Osnabrück: Sustainability and Innovation in Engineering and Planning

In summer 2022, I had the privilege of being a part of a UF study abroad program to Osnabrück, Germany. This program took place during the summer A semester and consisted of two courses. The first focused on sustainability, covering topics such as energy, recycling, agriculture, and materials. The second allowed students to conduct a design of experiments study using an injection molding machine on the Hochschule Osnabrück campus. In addition to these technical courses, the program featured seminars on German culture, providing a broader perspective and using Germany as a case study for sustainability in practice. Beyond the classroom, the program also included several day trips, both to local spots around the city as well as to other German cities like Berlin, Münster, and Bremerhaven.
